iPad DEP enrollment stuck on Assigned and apps/restrictions not applyingSolved

I’m setting up a new iPad through Apple Business Manager and Hexnode. The device shows as enrolled and assigned to a policy, but the configuration is not fully applying.

A few things I noticed:

The iPad keeps prompting for enrollment during setup.
Some apps are not deploying correctly.
Restrictions such as hiding system apps like FaceTime are not taking effect.
In the portal, the DEP profile status shows as Assigned rather than Pushed.

Does Assigned mean the device is already managed, or is there another step needed before the iPad becomes supervised and receives all policies?

Hi @thomas_m,

For Automated Device Enrollment devices, the profile status is important.

Assigned means the enrollment profile has been associated with the device, but it has not yet been applied on the iPad.
Pushed means the profile has been applied on the device, and the device can receive the assigned configurations.

If the iPad is only in the Assigned state, erase the device and go through Setup Assistant again:

On the iPad, go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Erase All Content and Settings.
After the wipe, proceed through the initial setup screens and connect the iPad to Wi-Fi.
The Remote Management screen should appear automatically.
Tap Continue to complete automated enrollment.
After setup, verify that the ADE profile status changes from Assigned to Pushed.

Also, restrictions such as blocking or hiding certain system apps require the iPad to be Supervised. Automated Device Enrollment through Apple Business is the recommended way to supervise the device during setup.

That explains the FaceTime part. I wiped the iPad earlier but may not have gone through the Remote Management screen properly. The app deployment is still confusing though. One managed app keeps failing to install even though the policy is assigned.
