Android kiosk app shows as installed but does not appear on the deviceSolved

Hi everyone. I recently added an Android app to a policy, and Hexnode shows that the app installed successfully on the device. However, the app is simply not visible on the phone itself.

The device is currently running in kiosk mode. I have already tried syncing and reloading the policy, as well as restarting the device, but the app still will not show up. Is there anything else required for apps to actually appear while in kiosk mode?

Hello,

Thanks for reaching out to Hexnode Connect.

In Android kiosk mode, installing an app through a policy only pushes the application files to the device storage. It will not automatically appear on the restricted kiosk home screen unless it is explicitly allowlisted in your kiosk app list.

To make the app visible to your users, you must allow it within the kiosk configuration:

  1. Open the kiosk policy that is currently applied to the affected device.
  2. Navigate to the Android kiosk configuration section (either Single App or Multi-App).
  3. Add the newly installed app under the allowed/kiosk apps list.
  4. Save the policy and ensure it is associated with your target device.
  5. Sync the device from the portal or wait for the policy update to reach the device.

Once the application is included in the kiosk apps list, it will appear on the kiosk home screen, provided the background installation has already completed successfully.

I hope this helps get your app displayed! If you find any more issues or need further assistance, feel free to reach out.
