iPads show “incorrect password” for one Wi-Fi network after Hexnode enrollmentSolved

A few managed iPads are failing to connect to one specific Wi-Fi network and keep showing an “incorrect password” message. The password is correct, and unmanaged devices can connect to the same network without any issue.

The same iPads can connect to other Wi-Fi networks while enrolled in Hexnode. I also checked the policy and the restriction to allow only MDM-configured Wi-Fi networks does not seem to be enabled. Has anyone seen this with iPads managed through Hexnode?

Hi @josiah,

If the iPads can connect to other Wi-Fi networks, the Wi-Fi radio and the basic MDM management profile on the devices are most likely functioning correctly.

A few things to verify first:

  1. Go to the device in Hexnode and check the policies associated with it.
  2. Review any Advanced Restrictions configured for the device.
  3. Confirm whether the restriction “Connect to MDM-configured Wi-Fi networks only” is enabled.

If that restriction is enabled, the iPad will be allowed to connect only to Wi-Fi networks pushed through a Hexnode Wi-Fi policy. Any manually selected network that is not configured through MDM may be blocked.

If the restriction is not enabled and the issue happens only with one SSID, then it is unlikely to be a general Hexnode restriction. In that case, also check whether a Wi-Fi payload is being pushed for that same SSID. If a Wi-Fi configuration profile is deployed, verify that the SSID, security type, and password configured in the payload are correct.

We checked the issue, it was actually on the Wi-Fi side.
