Hey everyone; so I’ve been saving up for a major laptop upgrade because my current Intel-based MacBook Pro is basically acting like a space heater at this point; it’s literally thermal throttling just opening up a few Chrome tabs. I was about to pull the trigger on a new M5 Pro, but then I stumbled upon all these crazy rumors about a completely new MacBook Ultra tier allegedly dropping or getting teased around WWDC 2026.
The leaks are wild. They’re saying it’s ditching the mini-LED for a super thin tandem OLED display, which would be amazing for my color-grading work. But the wildest part? Some supply chain rumors are hinting at a touchscreen and replacing the notch with a Dynamic Island. Honestly, a touchscreen Mac sounds like a fever dream after Apple spent years telling us it’s a bad idea, but my current laptop’s screen is dying anyway, so I’m holding out hope. Has anyone else tracked this? Are we actually getting a radical redesign or should I just buy what’s available now? Obviously, these are just early rumors so we can’t believe them completely; I don’t want to hype myself up for nothing.
