What to do when the Kiosk Exit passcode popup won’t appear?Solved

Hey team, I’m kinda stuck. I have a tablet in Kiosk lockdown that I need to exit to change the WiFi password. I checked the policy and “Manual Kiosk Exit” is definitely enabled, but the tap sequence isn’t bringing up the passcode popup. I also tried the Reboot and tap to exit method as well! But no change! You guys have any ideas?

I’ve had this happen before. Check your policy settings for the tap count. If it’s set to something like 10 taps, you have to be incredibly fast. If you’re too slow, the OS just thinks you’re clicking around inside the app.

Thanks for raising that question @finn.

@josiah is spot on. With a 10-tap requirement, the timing window is very narrow. If the “drum roll” method doesn’t work, we can use the fail-safe since you have “Reboot and tap to exit” enabled in your policy.

Here is the summary to get you into those settings:

  • Speed is Key: Perform the 10 taps as fast as possible to ensure the system registers it as a command rather than standard user activity.

  • The Reboot Method: If the app is already frozenunresponsive or if the tap method doesn’t work then kindly try restarting the tablet.

  • Catch the Boot: The moment the screen lights up after the restart, start tapping the screen repeatedly. This forces the passcode prompt to trigger before the Kiosk app has a chance to fully “lock” the interface.

Please let us know if you have any more queries regarding the above.

Mary Romero
