Can I automatically remove blocklisted apps from my devices?Solved

Is there an automated way to remove blocklisted apps from multiple devices without having to manually select each one or trigger uninstalls one by one? I’m looking for something that just handles it the moment a device is enrolled or detects a restricted app.

 I don’t think that’s actually possible.

Thanks for raising this question. While Hexnode doesn’t currently have a single “Auto-Delete Blocklist” toggle or a specific report to filter devices by installed apps, there are a few ways to handle this effectively.

Here is a simplified breakdown of your options:

  • The “Required App” Policy: If you previously pushed an app as a Required App, removing that app from the policy will automatically trigger an uninstallation on all associated devices; but only if the “Remove apps on policy removal” option is enabled. Additionally, devices will be marked as Non-compliant if a Required App is missing.

  • Automation Scripts: For platforms like macOS or Windows, you can deploy a script via Hexnode that checks for specific bundle IDs or names and uninstalls them automatically.

  • Remote Actions: You can still perform bulk uninstalls by going to the Manage tab, selecting your target devices, and using the Uninstall Application action. In addition, Hexnode’s Automation tab allows you to configure workflows that automate this uninstall action. By selecting Uninstall Application and defining initiation and trigger conditions, you can ensure unwanted apps are removed consistently across devices without manual intervention.

  • App Compliance: You can set up a policy that marks a device as “Non-compliant” if a blocklisted app is found.
