Is it possible to set up restricted zones using Geo fence?Solved

Hi everyone! Instead of the usual “Safe Zone” where devices go non-compliant if they leave, can I create a Restricted Zone? I want an email alert and a non-compliance flag if a user enters a specific forbidden area. Is there a way to flip the logic in Hexnode?

@jennifer , I understand your requirement, but the Geofence Policy is designed with “Stay-In” logic: specifically, devices are marked non-compliant only upon leaving the defined fence.

Oh, that’s a bummer! @elle_reed any other way to know which devices might be in the restricted area?

@jennifer , To identify devices entering restricted areas, you can utilize Dynamic Device Groups. Please follow these steps to configure the group:

  1. Define the Zone: Under the Admin tab, create a Geofence encompassing the restricted area.

  1. Configure Dynamic Criteria: Create a new Dynamic Device Group and add a Location filter, selecting the Include option for that specific Geofence.

  1. Refine Group Filters: Add a conditional filter for the relevant operating system (e.g., OS is Android) and save the group.

Once a device enters the restricted zone, it will automatically be added to this group. Periodically monitoring this Dynamic Group will allow you to identify which devices are currently present in restricted areas.
