Unable to Uninstall Applications on ADE-Enrolled iPadsSolved

Hy everyone,
We’re facing an issue with uninstalling apps from our iPads that are enrolled via Apple ADE.

The Remove Apps option is enabled under Advanced Restrictions in Hexnode. When we try to remove an app, the option to remove apps is visible, but the Delete App option never appears.
We only have a single policy applied to these devices. Has anyone else run into this?

Yes, we’re seeing the same behaviour.
These are manually installed App Store apps, not apps deployed through Hexnode.

We also checked Settings > General > iPad Storage, but there’s no delete option either reapplying the policy or restarting the device didn’t help. The issue is consistent across all manually installed apps.

Thanks for the detailed explanation.

When the delete option is unavailable across the device including iPad Storage it usually indicates a system level restriction rather than policy conflict.

To resolve this please check iOS Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > iTunes & App Store Purchases > Deleting Apps.

That makes sense. However, we can’t access Settings > Screen Time on these devices.

We’ve restricted Screen Time using a Hexnode policy, so the option isn’t available on the device end. Could that be related?

Yes, that explains the behaviour. If Deleting Apps was previously set to Don’t Allow under Screen Time, and access to the Screen Time is now restricted via policy, the setting remains enforced but can’t be modified on the device.

To resolve this, you can:

Temporarily allow access to Screen Time in the Hexnode policy. Once the menu is visible on the iPad, navigate to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions and ensure Deleting Apps is set to Allow

Once Screen Time restrictions are cleared, manually installed apps should be removable as expected.

That makes sense, We’ll try allowing Screen Time access first and test this.

Thanks for the clarification!
