Is there any way to reset a device stuck in kiosk?Solved

Hey guys, I’m kinda in a pickle here. Among the bunch of devices we manage, one particular device stopped communicating with the portal. The issue is, it’s in multi-app kiosk mode, and we need to reset the device.

We changed the global exit password some time back, and it looks like the device stopped communicating right before that. The new password doesn’t work to exit kiosk mode, and I’ve completely forgotten the old one.

So yeah, it’s a samsung galaxy m31, stuck in kiosk, and I can’t exit or wipe it from the portal. Any way to reset it manually?

Hey @bram,

Thanks for reaching out!

We understand your situation. You can factory reset the device through recovery mode, provided you haven’t applied any policy that disables Advanced Factory Reset.

Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Connect your device to a computer.
  2. Power off the device completely.
  3. Press and hold the Power and Volume Up buttons together until the Samsung Galaxy logo appears, then release both.
  4. Once in Recovery Mode, select Wipe data/factory reset and reboot the device.

Before doing a full wipe, you can also try a quick troubleshooting step. Choose Repair Apps in recovery mode and reboot the device. If it starts communicating with the portal again, you might not need to reset it.

Let us know how it goes so we can assist further if needed.

Cheers,

Thanks a lot, @edenpierce ! That did the trick. The device is back up and running like new.
