Separate Camera and gallery apps for storing mediaSolved

Hey community, we’ve recently configured work profiles on our employees’ Android devices using profile-owner enrollment. We’re looking to set up a dedicated separate camera app in the work profile since our employees’ work revolves around hardware repair and therefore involves extensive image capturing and video recording. Also, for security reasons we want the media captured using that camera app to be stored inside the work profile only. So, is it possible to have a separate camera and gallery app within the work profile on these devices?

@bram , I believe it is possible for Android devices to have separate apps for camera and gallery in the work profile. But I am not so quite sure if the pictures or videos taken will get stored in the default device gallery outside the work profile, which would essentially defeat the purpose of having a different gallery app.

Hey @bram , as @skylar-a  mentioned, it is indeed possible to have camera and gallery apps for use, exclusively in the user’s work profile. Since the default camera and gallery apps are not accessible in the work profile, it will be essential to use third-party alternatives. You can deploy these apps directly from the Hexnode portal, and then they can be installed via the managed Play Store within the work profile. Also, yes, all media taken using the camera app in the work profile will be stored in the gallery app in the work profile only ensuring separation from the user’s personal space. Some popular camera apps that you can consider installing are Open Camera, ProCam X-Lite and ProShot. For gallery apps, Simple Gallery or Gallery Vault are reliable third-party apps that work well in the work profile.
