I’m trying to enroll Windows endpoints into Hexnode, but the Windows agent/MSI installs and then nothing shows up on the dashboard. I tested this on a Windows 11 VM and also checked Windows Server.

At one point I saw an error saying that the current subscription does not allow enrolling a Windows device. I also got confused between using the installer from the enrollment page and the configuration file generated under Windows migration.

What is the correct way to get Windows PCs enrolled, and can the MSI be deployed silently without any banner or UI pop-up? Also, why is Windows Server not available in the enrollment restrictions list?

For Windows devices not reporting after MSI installation, check these items first:

1. Confirm that the active Hexnode plan supports Windows enrollment. Windows enrollment is available only on supported plans. If the portal is on a plan that does not include Windows enrollment, the device may show an error such as: “Your current subscription does not allow you to enroll a Windows device.”

2. Make sure Windows is allowed in enrollment restrictions:

– Go to Admin > Enrollment > Enrollment Restrictions.

– Find Device Models allowed.

– Enable Windows.

– Save the changes.

3. Download a fresh Windows installer/configuration from the portal after correcting the plan and enrollment restriction settings. Avoid reusing an older configuration file generated before the changes, as it may cause enrollment conflicts or prevent the device from reporting correctly.

For standard Windows PC enrollment, you can download the installer directly from the Hexnode enrollment page in your portal. For MSI-based migration or deployment, use Enroll > Windows > Migrate to Hexnode and generate a new configuration file.
