Hey everyone,

I’m running into a frustrating issue while setting up a few Android devices in Multi-app Kiosk Mode via Hexnode.

Under the kiosk settings, I want to use Google Chrome as the default browser for the “Another Browser” option. But when I click the dropdown, the only option that appears is Hexnode Assist.” Chrome is definitely installed on the devices, but it’s just not showing up in the list.

Has anyone encountered this before? Am I missing a step in the policy?

Thanks for raising this question.

Since these are Android devices, this is actually a common configuration step that gets missed. For Chrome to be recognized as an available browser under “Another Browser,” the system needs permission to run it within the lockdown environment.

To fix this, you just need to add Chrome as a Background App in that same Multi-app kiosk policy.

Here is what you need to do:

  1. Navigate to the Policies> Kiosk Lockdown >Background Apps section and click +Add.

  1. Select Google Chrome from your app list.

  1. Save and associate the policy.

Once Chrome is allowed in the background, it will instantly appear as an option in your “Another Browser” dropdown menu. Give that a try and let me know if it resolves the issue for you!

Let us know if you have any more queries.
