hi team is there an option to deploy a policy to an ios phone, and not have the policy remove existing apps from the phone? but also deploy mandatory apps defined in the policy.

Hi Melissa,

Thanks for reaching out to us!

The Mandatory apps policy will only push apps to your devices. It does not have the capability to hide or remove apps already existing in the device. However, Blacklist/Whitelist in iOS policy can hide existing apps if configured. Please make sure you do not have any Blacklist/Whitelist policies associated with your device if you find that your apps are missing on the device.

Cheers!

If the mandatory policy is removed from an iphone, will the apps that are installed on the device using the policy, disappear from the device?

Hey, Thanks for reaching out to us.

The mandatory apps will get removed if the option Remove apps from the device on policy removal was selected while configuring the policy:

  • Navigate to Policies and click on the mandatory app policy that was associated with the device.
  • Navigate to iOS-> App Management-> Mandatory App.
  • If the option Remove apps from the device on policy removal has been checked, the mandatory apps will get uninstalled, when the policy is removed from the device.

If you do not want the apps to be uninstalled when the policy is removed from the device, you can uncheck this option and save the policy.

Please check out our help doc on mandatory app policy for more info.

Cheers!
