iPad not showing Remote Management after Apple ADE sync in HexnodeSolved

I’m trying to enroll an iPad through Apple Automated Device Enrollment, but it doesn’t seem to pick up the Hexnode management profile during setup. In Hexnode, the ADE/DEP device profile status showed as Assigned, but the device did not show the Remote Management screen after turning it on. What does Assigned vs Pushed mean, and what should I check to make the enrollment work?

Hi @ed_evans,

Assigned and Pushed indicate different stages.

  • Assigned means the Hexnode ADE enrollment profile has been associated with the device in the portal, but it has not yet been applied on the device. The configurations will not take effect until the device receives the profile.
  • Pushed means the ADE profile has been delivered to the device, so the assigned configurations can take effect.

For Apple Automated Device Enrollment, the ADE server token must be valid and synced between Apple Business and Hexnode UEM. If the token has expired or is out of sync, devices may remain assigned in the portal but fail to fetch the management profile during setup.

You can renew and sync the ADE token using these steps:

  1. Log in to the Apple Business portal.
  2. Navigate to Devices > Management Services.
  3. Under Management Services, select the respective server.
  4. Click on the ellipsis button and select Download Token.
  5. In the Hexnode portal, go to Admin > Apple Business/School Manager > Automated Device Enrollment > Accounts.
  6. Hover over the ADE server account and click the edit option.
  7. On the Edit Account page, upload the newly downloaded token.
  8. Save the changes and sync the ADE account.

For ADE-enrolled iPhones and iPads, the management profile is fetched during the initial device setup. If the device was already set up before the token was renewed or before the profile was properly synced, you need to erase the device and run through setup again to trigger the Remote Management screen.

On the iPad/iPhone, go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad/iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings.

During the next setup, the Remote Management screen should appear, and the device should enroll automatically into Hexnode.
