Force close an app in Android Kiosk modeSolved

Using a Zebra TC22 on Android 14 in Kiosk mode. The navigation buttons are allowed, but the square/overview button stopped responding once and the user could not close the running app. Restarting the device brought the button back.

Is there any Hexnode setting that lets users force close an app while the device is in Android Kiosk mode?

Hello @mees ,

At the moment, Hexnode UEM does not provide an option to let end users forcefully close an app from Android Kiosk mode.

In Android Kiosk mode, app switching and app termination are intentionally restricted to keep the device locked to the configured kiosk experience. Even if navigation buttons such as Home or Overview are made accessible, Hexnode does not currently offer a kiosk setting that allows users to force stop or close the active app.

If the Overview button becomes intermittently unresponsive and a restart restores normal behavior, it is worth checking whether the issue can be reproduced consistently and whether any required system or app packages are being blocked by the kiosk configuration. However, for force-closing apps directly from kiosk, there is currently no supported end-user action.

For now, restarting the device is the available workaround when the app or navigation state becomes stuck.
