I’m setting up around 30 iPads and want them all to use the same lock screen passcode. I found the passcode policy settings in Hexnode, but those seem to enforce passcode rules rather than set an actual passcode on the devices. Is there a way to push a specific passcode to all iPads from Hexnode?

Apple’s MDM framework does not allow any MDM solution, including Hexnode, to remotely set or preconfigure a specific lock screen passcode on iOS or iPadOS devices. A reusable workaround is:
- Manually set the required passcode directly on each iPad.
- In Hexnode, create or edit the iOS policy applied to those devices.
- Go to Restrictions > Advanced Restrictions.
- Disable the Modify Password option.
- Save and deploy the policy to the iPads.
After this restriction is applied, users will not be able to change the passcode that was manually set on the device.

So the passcode policy can only enforce things like length or complexity, but it can’t push an exact value like 123456?

Correct. The passcode policy can require conditions such as a minimum length, complexity, auto-lock behavior, or passcode history depending on the available iOS settings. It cannot define the actual passcode value. For shared or managed iPads where the same passcode must remain in place, manually setting the passcode first and then blocking passcode modification is the supported approach.
