Android Gmail prompts users to install Hexnode after Google Workspace integrationSolved

This behavior is usually triggered by the Third-party Android mobile management setting in Google Workspace. When this setting is enabled, Google Workspace automatically starts Android device enrollment when a user signs in with a managed work account. As part of that flow, the Hexnode app may be installed and the user may be asked to create a work profile before accessing Google services such as Gmail.

To prevent automatic enrollment:

1. Open the Google Admin Console.
2. Go to Devices > Mobile & endpoints > Settings > Setup > Third-party integrations.
3. Disable or uncheck Enable third-party Android mobile management.
4. Save the changes.

After this is disabled, Google Workspace should stop forcing Hexnode enrollment and app installation when employees sign in with their work email. Policy changes in Google Workspace may take around 15–30 minutes to apply across users.

Does disabling that option remove the Android Enterprise / Managed Google Play connection from Hexnode? We still need to manage Play Store apps from Hexnode, just not auto-enroll everyone who checks Gmail.

Disabling Enable third-party Android mobile management only stops Google Workspace from triggering automatic Android enrollment during user sign-in. It does not mean you have to unlink the Managed Google Play or Android Enterprise configuration from Hexnode. You can continue using Hexnode for Managed Play app management and enroll only the devices that should be managed.

In short:

• Keep the Hexnode Android Enterprise / Managed Google Play setup for app management.
• Disable the Google Workspace third-party Android mobile management trigger if you do not want automatic enrollment when users access Gmail.
• Allow some time for the Google Workspace setting change to sync before testing again on user devices.
