We’re running into an issue while enrolling Android devices using Android Enterprise QR enrollment. The devices reach the setup process and then report that there’s no Wi-Fi connection, even though they’re connected to Wi-Fi and also have active SIM cards. Has anyone come across this?

Hi @maatthew,

We’re not currently aware of any issues affecting Android enrollments in Hexnode.

Once the device connects to Wi-Fi, the enrollment should proceed and prompt for the required permissions. Could you let me know which stage of the enrollment process the device is getting stuck on?

It’s getting stuck on the Work Device Setup screen.

The device is already connected to Wi-Fi. In our case, the Wi-Fi settings are pushed through an NFC tag, and the Wi-Fi icon is visible in the status bar.

Thanks for the details.

Could you confirm that you’re scanning the QR code generated under Enroll > Android Enterprise?

Also, what Android version are the affected devices running?

Yes, we’re using the QR code from Android Enterprise enrollment.

The devices are running Android 9.

Thank you for confirming.

QR enrollment is fully supported for Android 9. The next thing I’d recommend checking is whether a Wi-Fi configuration has been added to the enrollment profile.

You can verify this by navigating to: Enroll > Android Enterprise > Enrollment Profile.

If a Wi-Fi configuration is already present, try creating a new enrollment profile and test the enrollment again using that profile.

The Wi-Fi configuration was already there.

We created a second enrollment profile and tested again. Initially, we still saw the same “No Wi-Fi” message, but after retrying the enrollment, it completed successfully.

That’s good to hear.

Since the enrollment completed successfully after testing with a new profile, the issue was likely related to the original enrollment profile configuration. If you encounter similar behavior again, comparing the settings between the working profile and the original profile should help identify the cause.
