Android devices in Multi App Kiosk needs Network configuration setupSolved

We have a few Android devices locked down in the Multi-App Kiosk mode so the workers only use our inventory app. I didn’t realize that would block the wifi menu entirely. If they are stuck in Kiosk mode, how do I give them a way to view and change Wi-Fi networks without giving them access to the full Android settings app? I absolutely do not want them messing with Bluetooth, display timeouts, or factory resetting the scanners.

Hello,

I understand you would like to keep the native settings app hidden to prevent unwanted changes to the devices. Fortunately, Hexnode has a built-in feature specifically designed for this exact scenario. You can grant access to only the Wi-Fi settings directly from the Kiosk screen using Peripheral Settings.

Here is how you can set that up safely:

  1. Navigate to Policies and click on your active Kiosk policy.
  2. Go to Kiosk Lockdown > Android Kiosk Lockdown > Peripheral Settings.
  3. Under the Network section, configure all the Wi-Fi related settings.
  4. Save the policy.

What this does: Once the policy is associated with the devices, it allows a warehouse user to open a secure, Hexnode-controlled window that only configures Wi-Fi settings. They can connect to a new network, but they will be completely blocked from navigating backwards into the main Android settings menu, keeping your Bluetooth and factory reset options safely out of reach.

If you have any more questions about fine-tuning your Kiosk environment, please don’t hesitate to reach back out!
