I’m using Android multi-app kiosk mode and need to allow this activity to run: com.android.settings.Settings$WifiSettingsActivity. I remember there was a way to unblock it in kiosk, but I can’t remember the exact place in the policy. Is it enough to add it as an allowed app, or does it need to be added somewhere else first?

For an Android activity like com.android.settings.Settings$WifiSettingsActivity to run while the device is in multi-app kiosk mode, add it as a background app in the kiosk policy. Use these steps:
- Go to Policies and open the Android kiosk policy applied to the device.
- Navigate to Android > Kiosk Management > Multi App Kiosk.
- Open Background Apps.
- Click + Add and select
com.android.settings.Settings$WifiSettingsActivity. - Save the policy and allow the device to sync.
Adding it under Background Apps lets the activity run without being blocked by kiosk restrictions.

That was the bit I was missing. Do I need to create this app entry first before it shows up under Background Apps? I don’t see it in the picker right now.

Yes. If the activity is not already available in the Hexnode app inventory, add it manually using its Bundle ID first. After that, it can be selected under Background Apps.
Steps:

Go to Apps > + Add Apps > With Bundle ID.

Enter a display name, such as
<span class="citation-54">Settings Wi-Fi Activity</span>. -
Enter
<span class="citation-53 citation-end-53">com.android.settings.Settings$Wifi</span>SettingsActivityin the Bundle ID field. -
Click Add.

Return to the kiosk policy.

Go to Android > Kiosk Management > Multi App Kiosk > Background Apps.

Click + Add, select the newly added app entry, and save the policy.Once the policy is updated on the device, the Wi-Fi settings activity should no longer be blocked in kiosk mode.
