Hexnode enrollment dashboard freezes when selecting AD user authenticationSolved

We’re trying to move from no authentication to Active Directory user authentication so we can send enrollment invite emails to specific users instead of the default unauthenticated user. When selecting AD user authentication in the enrollment invite flow, the Hexnode dashboard stops responding.

Two admins reproduced it across multiple browsers, incognito mode, and even another computer. Local user selection works without freezing. The environment has a large AD user list and we enroll both iOS and Android devices, with some users scanning QR codes and others using email self-enrollment. Is there a recommended way to send the invite to a specific email address while this AD user selection page is locking up?

This behavior is not expected. If the dashboard becomes unresponsive only when selecting Active Directory users, while local user selection works normally, it usually points to a directory user-loading issue rather than a browser-specific problem.

As a temporary workaround, you can send enrollment invites by creating local users:

1. Go to Manage > Users.

2. Click New User.

3. Enter the user’s display name and email address.

4. Select Send enrollment request.

5. Click Save.

Hexnode will send the enrollment invite directly to that email address.

For AD-based invites, the usual path is:

1. Go to Enroll > All Enrollments > Invite > Email.

2. Choose Single User.

3. Select the AD domain.

4. Search for and select the user.

5. Choose the device ownership type and send the invite.

In environments with very large AD user listings, the enrollment dashboard may take longer to process directory data. Hexnode has addressed this behavior with an optimization to how directory data is loaded when switching enrollment authentication options. After the update is available on the portal, clear the browser cache or open a fresh incognito window and try selecting AD user authentication again.
