We’re planning to bring a batch of existing MacBooks and Windows laptops under Hexnode management. These devices are already in use by employees, so wiping them would be difficult.
Do macOS or Windows devices need to be reset before enrolling them in Hexnode, or can they be enrolled as-is?

No, a device reset is not required for standard Hexnode enrollment on macOS or Windows.
Existing Mac and Windows devices can be enrolled into Hexnode while they are already set up and in use. This allows the devices to come under management without wiping user data or reinstalling the operating system.
A reset is generally only relevant if you specifically want to use certain out-of-box automated enrollment workflows that begin during the device setup assistant. For regular enrollment of existing devices, you can proceed without resetting them.

Correct. Enrolling an existing macOS or Windows device in Hexnode does not wipe the device by itself.
After enrollment, the device will start receiving the policies, restrictions, apps, and configurations assigned from the Hexnode portal. Any changes after that depend on what you deploy through those policies or actions. If you only enroll the device and assign standard management policies, the existing user data remains intact.
