macOS App Store Get button greyed out with Managed Apple IDSolved

I’m trying to allow users to install apps from the App Store on managed macOS devices. The devices are enrolled in Hexnode and the users sign in with Apple Business Managed Apple IDs. I couldn’t find a Hexnode setting that clearly enables or disables the macOS App Store, so I’m trying to confirm whether this is controlled by Hexnode policy or by the Apple account type.

Hello @pepijn ,

On macOS, Hexnode UEM does not currently provide a policy option that specifically blocks or restricts access to the App Store. If the App Store opens but the Get button is greyed out or app installation is not allowed, the behavior is usually related to the Apple ID being used.

Managed Apple IDs from Apple Business have restrictions on App Store purchases and downloads. Because of this Apple limitation, users signed in with a Managed Apple ID may not be able to install apps directly from the App Store.

For organization-owned app deployment, consider assigning apps through Apple Business Apps and Books and deploying them using Hexnode app management, instead of relying on users to install them manually from the App Store.
