Can I set up Honeywell CT60 Android kiosk to auto-open Chrome and allow only specific websites?Solved

I’m configuring a Honeywell CT60 as an Android kiosk. The goal is to have Google Chrome open automatically to a specific website and prevent users from browsing to any other sites.

I already created a kiosk policy and added the website, but Chrome is not launching automatically and the desired site is not becoming the homepage. I also tried saving Chrome as the default application, but the Chrome app configuration did not seem to apply correctly.

What is the right way to configure this in Hexnode?

Hello @harold ,

To achieve this specific outcome you will need to leverage Google Chrome’s managed configurations. This allows you to lock down the browser’s URL routing parameters natively.

Please use the following setup workflow:

  1. Ensure Google Chrome is added to your Hexnode UEM repository as a Managed Google Play application.
  2. Navigate to Policies > Android > App Management > App Configurations, click Configure, and choose Google Chrome. Inside the configuration bundle, adjust the following fields:
    • Configure the home page URL: Input your designated website link to set it as the mandatory home page.
    • Allow access to a list of URLs: Add the exact website URL you want to authorize.
    • Block access to a list of URLs: Input a single asterisk wildcard character (*) in this field to automatically block all other unauthorized web traffic.
  3. Add the Google Chrome application into the Android Multi App Kiosk.

Once this unified policy is associated with your device, the endpoint will lock into the kiosk mode, restrict Chrome exclusively to your permitted URL, and automatically serve your defined homepage.

Okay got it, how do I make Chrome open automatically if it closes?

To have Chrome open automatically, configure the kiosk auto-launch behavior:

  1. In the Android Kiosk Lockdown, configure the Launcher settings for the kiosk app.
  2. Set the App auto-launch delay to a short value, such as 20 seconds.

With this configuration, Chrome will relaunch shortly after the kiosk starts or if the app is closed. The short delay is useful because it gives administrators a small window to recover or exit kiosk mode if the device temporarily loses connectivity or needs troubleshooting.

If the device screen also needs to remain active, go to Peripheral Settings > Display and enable Keep screen On.
