Hey people! I’m looking to set up Hexnode on a few TV monitors for a digital signage project. Specifically, I need to lock these TVs into Kiosk Mode using the Hexnode Browser. Before I go out and buy hardware, which TV operating systems actually support Hexnode?

Hi @penelope,
That sounds like a great use case! Currently, Hexnode UEM supports both Android TV and Apple TV (tvOS).
Thanks for the quick reply! I’m leaning toward Android, but I’m having a hard time finding a definitive list of supported TV brands or monitors. Do you have a list of recommended hardware that plays nice with the MDM?
While we don’t have an exclusive “certified” list (since Android TV is a broad ecosystem), there are several devices frequently used by our customers:
-
TV Boxes: Beelink, Amlogic X6 PRO, and X96 mini.
-
Commercial Displays: ViewSonic EP5540T and Giada DN73.
A quick tip: Generally, any device that allows you to grant Device Admin privileges will work.
Important Disclaimer: Hexnode does not have a formal integration with or endorsement of these specific brands. Because hardware manufacturers often tweak their versions of Android, we cannot guarantee 100% compatibility across every single feature. We strongly recommend testing one unit before performing a bulk rollout.

That makes sense. If I just grab a standard consumer TV from a retailer like Best Buy—for example, this TCL 50″ QM5K Series with Google TV—should that work since it has the Google Play Store?
Short answer: Yes! If the TV is powered by Android TV OS or Google TV, it should be compatible with the Hexnode UEM agent. Since that TCL model runs Google TV, you should be able to enroll it and push your Kiosk configurations without much trouble.
Just ensure you can access the settings to enable the necessary permissions during the initial setup!
