Windows Agent Enrollment Failing – Your browser is a bit unusual ErrorSolved

Hi everyone,

I’m currently trying to onboard a new remote sales rep and we’ve hit a weird roadblock while enrolling their Windows 11 laptop. We are trying to download and install the Hexnode agent through Microsoft Edge, but during the authentication phase, a strange error pops up on their screen saying:

Your browser is a bit unusual… Please try the following: Enable JavaScript for Sign In to Your Account – GoDaddy, disconnect VPN, and disable browser extensions.

I did a quick screen share with the user to verify their setup. They definitely aren’t routed through a VPN, and since it’s a fresh machine, there are absolutely zero browser extensions installed. I’m a bit stumped since our standard enrollment usually goes through without a hitch.

Has anyone else encountered this GoDaddy/JavaScript error during Windows agent deployment? Any quick fixes to get this rep online?

Hello, Thanks for reaching out to Hexnode Connect.

This error typically occurs when the native webview fails to process authentication tokens from your identity provider, or when network configurations strip essential browser headers. Since you have already ruled out VPN and extension conflicts, please proceed with the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Clear Browser Cache: In Microsoft Edge, navigate to Settings > Privacy, search, and services, and clear all browsing data and cookies.
  • Verify System JavaScript: Ensure JavaScript is allowed in Edge’s site permissions. Additionally, open the Windows Internet Options panel, go to the Security tab, click Custom level, and confirm that Active scripting is enabled.
  • Test Alternate Network: Have the user temporarily connect to a mobile hotspot. Strict local firewalls can sometimes alter browser headers and trigger this security flag.
  • Direct Browser Enrollment: If the native window continues to fail, have the user copy the enrollment URL and paste it directly into a standalone browser like Chrome or Firefox to bypass the native webview entirely.

I hope this helps. If you find any more issues or need further assistance feel free to reach out.

Best regards,
George,
