How to get a host list of devices with a specific app installed?Solved

Hey people. I’m trying to audit our software and I need to generate a list of all the apps installed on devices, but specifically for a certain region. I also need to be able to pull a “host list” (basically just a list of the device names) that actually have a specific app installed, and I need to export it for my managers.

Is there a way to filter this by region and export the exact list of devices running an app?

Hey @penelope, software auditing can definitely get tricky when you need to segment by region, but Hexnode has a few built-in reporting tools to get you exactly what your managers need.

Here is how you can tackle this in two phases:

1. Segregating Devices by Region

To get a region-specific view of your fleet, we recommend utilizing Custom Reports.

  • If your organization assigns devices to users based on their location, you can build a custom report and filter it based on the Assigned User attributes.

  • Alternatively, if your devices are already organized into regional Device Groups, you can filter your reports by those specific groups.

  • Navigate to Reports > Custom Reports to start building a template that filters out the exact subset of regional devices you need to analyze.

2. Exporting a Host List for a Specific App

  1. Navigate to Reports > Builtin Reports > Application > All Applications

  1. Search for and locate the specific application you are auditing.

  1. In that app’s row, click on the Device Count number. This will open a detailed sub-view of all the specific devices where the application has been successfully installed.

  1. Click the Export button at the top.

  1. In the export dialog box, choose Device list from the Export dropdown. (You can also manually select which columns you want to include, like device name, OS version, or username).

  1. Once the export generates, navigate to the Exports section (still under the Reports tab) to download your CSV or PDF file.

Using this combination of Custom and Built-in Reports should give you the exact data cut your management team is looking for. Good luck with the software audit, and if you run into any roadblocks while setting up those regional filters, just drop a reply right here. We’ve got your back!
