Hey folks,

Bit stuck here—our allowlisted apps aren’t showing up on devices or even in the Play Store.

We’ve already set up the allowlist, so I’m kinda confused about what’s missing. Anyone seen this before?

Hey!

Yeah, this can be a bit confusing at first. Allowlisting doesn’t actually install anything. It only allows apps that are already present on the device. So, if they’re not installed yet, they won’t show up at all.

Ohhh wait, really? That might explain it. But we’re managing like 250+ Android devices. How do I even install them everywhere?

Yeah, doing that manually would be painful. You can use the Required Apps policy to deploy them to all devices. Once they’re installed, the allowlist will work as expected, and they’ll start showing up.

Gotcha, that makes sense now. What about apps we want users to install themselves? How do you usually handle that?

Yeah, for that, you don’t need Required Apps. Just add them to the App Catalog.  Users can install what they need from there, but only from the approved list. Keeps things controlled without being too restrictive.

Nice, that clears it up 🙌

Thanks both!
