@bram  , yes, we rolled this out for our warehouse scanners and storefront tablets. 

We built it around two components–dynamic groups and policies. Using dynamic groups, we made the devices automatically move into a group if they exit a defined geographic boundary around authorized locations. When the device enters that “Outside Authorized Area” group, we configured a policy to apply immediately that locks the device. We also made it to display a custom return message and enforce a strong alphanumeric code. 

This strategy has led to reduced shrinkage and much faster recovery of misplaced devices. 

We took a slightly different approach on our end. When a device leaves a store or warehouse, it locks right away and shows a clear “return to IT” message. If it doesn’t come back within a set timeframe, IT gets automatically notified. And in rare cases where it’s clearly lost, we can escalate to a remote wipe. 

Honestly, it’s been a game-changer — it feels way less like chasing missing devices and more like the devices are protecting themselves.
