Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Hexnode Connect.
Currently, there isn’t a direct option to check the real-time active status of a specific app and trigger a shutdown the moment a user closes it. However, we can solve this by utilizing the Automate tab to achieve a similar result based on your drivers’ schedules!
We can push an automation that utilizes Remote Actions to automatically power off or restart the tablets at the end of their shifts. This will effectively terminate the Sygic app and clear background processes.
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to set this up using a time-based trigger:
Step 1: Initialize the Automation
- Log in to your Hexnode UEM portal.
- Navigate to the Automate tab on the top dashboard.
- Create a New Automation (Android) with a suitable name (e.g., “End of Shift Tablet Power Off”).
Step 2: Define the Remote Action
- Under the Actions section, choose an action to automate.
- Scroll down to the device control actions and select Power Off (or Restart Device, depending on your preference).
Step 3: Set the Time-Based Trigger
- Move to the Settings and Schedule, in the Trigger section choose Time.
- Choose Repeat at a set schedule.
- Configure the schedule to match the end of your drivers’ shifts. For example, you can set it to Everyday and select the specific time (e.g., 6:00 PM).
Step 4: Target the Devices and Execute
- Navigate to the Target Filters section.
- Select the specific Devices, Device Groups, or Users that this policy applies to (e.g., your driver tablet group).
- Click Save to activate the automation.
Once saved, Hexnode will automatically send the Power Off (or any selected remote action) command at your designated time every day, ensuring the Sygic app is shut down and your devices conserve battery until the next shift.
Please let me know if you have any questions while setting this up. I’m happy to help!
Best regards,
George
