A mobile device in Single App Kiosk mode is showing only a white screen instead of launching the kiosk app. I checked the device’s Applications tab, but there are no blocked packages listed this time. The selected kiosk app is already installed on the device. What is the best way to recover the device without fully reconfiguring the kiosk policy?

A white or blank screen in Single App Kiosk mode can occur when the kiosk app does not load correctly after the kiosk session starts.

If there are no blocked packages listed and the kiosk app is already installed, this is usually caused by a temporary app loading stall, delayed app initialization, an app dependency not responding, or a brief connectivity issue during kiosk launch.

Try the following recovery steps:

  1. Temporarily disable kiosk mode for the device.
  2. Restart the device.
  3. Re-enable the Single App Kiosk policy.
  4. Confirm that the selected kiosk app launches correctly after the device checks in.

If the issue happens again, a device restart is usually enough to clear the temporary loading state. You can restart the device remotely from the Hexnode portal by going to Manage > Devices > select the device > Actions > Restart Device.

Disabling kiosk, restarting the phone, and enabling kiosk again fixed it. If it comes back, should I always do the same thing?

If the issue recurs and the kiosk app is still installed with no blocked packages shown, start with a restart first. In most cases, restarting the device clears the blank screen without needing to change the kiosk policy. Use the full disable kiosk > restart > re-enable kiosk sequence if a normal restart does not bring the kiosk app back. Also make sure the device has a stable network connection when the kiosk policy is being reapplied, especially if the app depends on network access during launch.
