Android web apps not showing in Hexnode policy after adding from Managed Google PlaySolved

Hi everyone. I’m trying to push website links as app icons to tablets managed through Hexnode. For iOS, I know this is handled using Web Clips. For Android, I added the web apps via Apps > Add Apps > Managed Google Play App > Web Apps. However, when I go to my Android policy and try to add them as required apps, they do not show up in the app list at all. Am I missing anything?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Hexnode Connect!

Yes, there is one final step you are missing. For Android Enterprise devices, creating a web app inside the Managed Google Play iframe is only the first part of the process. The app must then be explicitly selected to officially add it to your Hexnode app inventory.

Here is the complete workflow to make the app available for deployment:

  1. Navigate to Apps > Add Apps > Managed Google Play App > Web Apps.
  2. Create your new web app (or open the one you already created).
  3. Once the web app is created in Managed Google Play, you must click the Select button on that specific app.
  4. After clicking Select, the web app is officially pulled into your Hexnode app inventory.
  5. You can now navigate to your Android policy and successfully add it under Required Apps.

If this “Select” step is skipped, the web app exists in Managed Google Play but will remain invisible when configuring your Hexnode policy deployments.
