Hi everyone. Is there a way to automate local user account creation for newly enrolled Windows 11 laptops in Hexnode? I want the account to be created automatically during onboarding, but I don’t want every laptop to get the same password. Ideally, each device should receive a unique password when the automation runs.

Yes, you can achieve this by configuring a Windows automation with the Create User Account action and utilizing Hexnode wildcards.
Because the wildcard is resolved at execution time, each targeted device will receive the unique value corresponding to that specific device or user context. Here is how to set it up:
- Go to Automate > New Automation > Windows.
- Under User Control, choose Create User Account.
- Enter the required local user account details.
- For the password field, use a supported wildcard such as %username% or %device_id%.
- Configure the execution schedule according to your onboarding workflow.
- Set the target filter so the automation applies specifically to newly enrolled Windows 11 devices.
- Save the automation.
Once configured, Hexnode will run the automation on the targeted laptops and create the local user account, replacing the wildcard with the actual device-specific value to ensure every laptop gets a unique password.
