I’m currently managing a fleet of iPhones that are restricted from accessing the App Store for security reasons. However, I need to get the latest WhatsApp updates pushed to these devices. Is there a way to trigger these updates remotely through the portal since the users can’t do it themselves?

Hi @arthur, you can absolutely push these updates remotely even if the App Store is restricted on the device. Here is the workflow to handle this manually for specific devices:
In the Hexnode UEM portal, navigate to the Manage > Devices.
Select the desired iPhone(s).
Click on Actions and select Install Application.
Search for WhatsApp, select it, and click Done.
The latest version available in the store will be pushed to the devices remotely.
That worked perfectly, thank you! Is there a way to make this happen automatically? I’d like the system to check and push these updates every day so I don’t have to do it manually for every version release.
You can definitely automate this process so you don’t have to trigger it manually each time.
To set up a daily update schedule, follow these steps:
Navigate to the Automate tab in the top header.
Click on New Automation.
Select iOS as the platform.
Choose the Install Application execution type.
Configure the Schedule: Set the frequency to Daily and choose your preferred time.
Select Target: Choose the Device Group (e.g., “Sales iPhones”) that you want to receive this update.
Select App: Choose WhatsApp from the list.
Once saved, Hexnode will automatically trigger the installation command every day at the scheduled time, ensuring your restricted devices stay up to date.
Note: For this to work seamlessly, ensure that the app was originally deployed as a “VPP” (Volume Purchase Program) app or a Store app managed by Hexnode.
