Hi, I need some help with Linux enrollment. We’ve got around 5 Ubuntu machines that need to be enrolled into Hexnode. Could someone guide us on the best approach?

Hey @laura123, for Linux devices, you can proceed with the CLI-based (Command Line Interface) enrollment method. This is the recommended approach for Ubuntu systems.

You can follow the detailed steps and check supported versions here.

Thanks. Also, if I use open enrollment, can I map the device to a specific user during enrollment?

In the case of open enrollment, the device will be assigned to the default user configured in the portal. If needed, you can later change the assigned user by following the steps below:

  • Navigate to Manage > Devices and select the device.

  • Then, go to Actions > Edit > Change Owner.

On executing this remote action, you can assign the device to another user.

In our case, we’ve already synced all our users from Google Workspace. So, for the default user, should we select a local user or a domain user?

@ethan, you can select either a local user or a Google Workspace (domain) user as the default user. The selected user will then be assigned to devices enrolled via open enrollment.
