Hey everyone! We have a fleet of Android devices managed via Hexnode and, I was wondering if it is possible to apply different password policies based on user roles? Any suggestions before we hand out the devices to users would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, I’ve done something similar, and it works great! Just make sure you test the policies before distributing the devices to ensure everything works as intended. However, could you clarify the criteria for the password policy?

Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind. We are planning to enforce regular password changes for critical roles while setting passwords to never expire for less sensitive roles.

Hello @roger, welcome to Hexnode Connect.
To apply different password policies based on user roles, you can create custom device groups or user groups according to the requirement. Once these groups are set up, you can then associate the password policy with them.
Here’s how to configure the password policy based on the password age,
- On your Hexnode UEM console, navigate to the Policies tab.
- Click on New Policy, and provide a suitable Policy name and description for the policy.
- Under Android, navigate to Password > Device Password and click on Configure.
- For a stricter password policy, you can set the Password age (in days) to a value between 10 and 720 days, depending on the desired frequency for password updates. Set Password age (in days) to ‘Never‘ to set the device password to never expire.
- Save the policy and associate the policy with the device.
