Hexnode UEM allows you to set a friendly name for devices through the Set Friendly Name action. This remote action supports the use of wildcards, which enables bulk devices to be renamed with ease. To change the device name, head over to Manage > Devices > select the required devices > Actions > Set Friendly Name.

In the Device Name field, enter %osname% – %serialnumber% to act as wildcards and uncheck the Append Number checkbox. It replaces the device name with the combination of OS platform and the serial number of the device.

This action changes the device name on the portal and the Hexnode app. The name of the device under device settings is unaffected.
