Install an app when turning on a brand new iPad

expand collapsive

Hi. I am trying to configure a profile to install one single app when turning on a brand new iPad. I can’t seem to get it to work automatically, it always asks for an Apple ID. I’ve read through the instructions on how to get this to work and I can’t seem to make it work. I can push the app silently once the device is connected to MDM but I want it to happen on initial start up. Is this possible?

Hey Ron! You would have to follow these steps to solve this issue.

    1. You have to make sure that your device is added to DEP.
    2. After enrolling the device via DEP, you would have to configure the VPP, and purchase the apps required via VPP and then sync it with Hexnode MDM.
    3. Create a Policy, set the app you wish to install as a mandatory app.
    4. Associate the policy to the device.

Once the device is switched on, mdm will be installed followed by the mandatory app.

Note:  Always make sure that the app to be installed is a VPP app.

    Thanks and regards
