Device shows another location even if Location tracking enabled.

Hi!
The frontline workers at our organization use the company’s Android devices during their fieldwork. To track our devices, our organization has activated location tracking on them.

While monitoring, one of the device present at the organization showed it was in a different location. On checking the device, we found that Mock location was enabled.

Does Hexnode provide any solution for the problem we are facing?

  • Hey @lar,

Thank you for reaching out to us!

Further inspection of the device would be required to find the exact solution for your problem.

But since you mentioned that Mock location is enabled, a possibility could be that a “Fake GPS” app was used to change the device location using the “Mock Location” feature of the Android device.

Hexnode does not provide a feature to disable Mock location. But you can notify your Hexnode Administrator via Email when a user tries to spoof their Android GPS location. This can be achieved by setting up Notifications  alerts from the Hexnode console.

To configure it, navigate to Admin > Notifications > Notify the administrators on and check Mock location is detected. Click on Save.

    Hopes this answers your query.
    Cheers!
