Hi, is it just me or has the weather widget been acting weird since the last few updates. I was hoping it would be fixed with the latest 16.5 update, but no.

Hello people, not here to give an authoritative solution, but from the little experience I have dealing with iPhones, these are a few things that could work:

  • Force close and open the Weather app – It works in most cases to just force the app to close and re-open it. Minor issues can be resolved this way.
  • Restart your device – restarting the device can go a long way, it can fix issues that may not make much sense.
  • Remove and re-add the weather widget – Try removing the widget and adding it back to see if it starts working properly.
  • Update the weather app – Go to the App Store and make sure that the app is on its latest version.
  • Check the permissions granted to the Weather app – Go to Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Location Services and scroll down to find the Weather app. Make sure it is set to ‘While Using the App or Widgets’ or ‘Always’. Try turning on Precise Location too.
  • Check internet connectivity – Very basic, but you never know, something as small as this could be the issue.

Do try uninstalling and re-installing the Weather app too. Since it is an in-built app everybody assumes that it cannot be uninstalled. But it can be done. Check out this link:

If your weather widget is not working on your iPhone since the last update, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:

  1. Restart your iPhone: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix minor software glitches. Press and hold the power button until the “Slide to power off” option appears, then slide to power off. After a few seconds, press and hold the power button again to turn your iPhone back on.

  2. Check your internet connection: Ensure that your iPhone is connected to a stable internet connection, as the weather widget relies on internet connectivity to fetch the latest weather data. If you’re on Wi-Fi, try switching to cellular data or vice versa to see if that resolves the issue.

  3. Update Location Services: Make sure that Location Services are enabled for the Weather app. Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services, find the Weather app, and ensure it’s set to “While Using the App” or “Always.”

  4. Re-add the Weather Widget: Try removing the weather widget from your home screen and then re-adding it. Press and hold on the widget until the options appear, then tap “Remove Widget.” To re-add it, swipe right to your Today View, tap the “Edit” button at the bottom, find the Weather widget, and add it again.
