I would like to block MacOS devices from copying files to usb drives, external hard drives, portable media devices, etc. Is this possible in Hexnode?

Hey, Thanks for posting.

We currently do not support this feature on Mac devices.
We have raised a ticket here regarding the same. Will keep you posted regarding the updates.

Please stay tuned for our latest releases, here.

Cheers!

Hi Brad,

Hope you are doing well,

Using the Media Management policy that we now provide, you would be able to configure advanced settings for media usage for the external media like USB flash drives, SD cards etc when connected to your Mac devices.  You would have the options to limit the access of the external devices to be “read-only” for all users, allow “read-only” access only to admin users, allow only the admin users to copy files, or block access to all the users entirely.

This feature is not limited to just external media, but also to internal and optical media as well. You can have each of these configured separately and set to the configurations that you prefer.
You would be able to have this policy set up from Policy > Kiosk lockdown > macOS > Media Management. Set the restrictions as per your requirement, add the devices as policy targets and save the policy.

Here is a detailed help doc to guide you through this https://www.hexnode.com/mobile-device-management/help/how-to-configure-media-management-settings-for-macos-devices/

We sincerely hope you and your loved ones take care and stay safe. Have a great day.

Cheers!
