Hi @tomas!
It is a bit tricky to set up Ditto for the first time. Here’s a step-by-step guide to get your Apple TVs up and running with Ditto Receiver using Hexnode UEM:
Step 1: Install the Ditto Receiver app on tvOS devices
- Log in to your Hexnode UEM portal.
- Choose the tvOS device(s) you want Ditto deployed on.
- Select Actions, scroll down and choose Install Application.
- Select Ditto Receiver then click Install.
The app will get installed on selected tvOS devices in a few minutes.
Step 2: Create the deployment policy
Since Ditto receiver is a digital signage app, it needs to run in a dedicated, controlled environment. To ensure this, you’ll need to configure it in Kiosk Mode.
- On your Hexnode UEM portal, navigate to Policies > New Policy > Kiosk Lockdown.
- Name your policy and (optionally) add a description.
- Under Apple TV Kiosk Lockdown, choose Single App mode and click Configure.
- Click on the + button and add the Ditto Receiver app.
- Now, either:
- Assign Policy Targets now and hit Save, or
- Save the policy first, then later go to the Manage tab > choose your Apple TVs > click Actions > select Associate Policy > choose the created Ditto policy > click Associate.
Step 3: Set up a tvOS device as a Ditto Receiver
- Open the Ditto Receiver app on your Apple TV. A pairing code will appear on the screen. This step must be performed manually on each Apple TV, as the configuration cannot be deployed in bulk.
- Log in to your Ditto account portal from a separate device, such as a laptop or desktop computer.
- Click on the Receivers tab and click New Receiver or Add Your First Receiver
- Enter the pairing code displayed on the Apple TV and click Pair Receiver.
- Your Apple TV will be paired to your Ditto account as a receiver.
- Next, add the receiver to the room. For that, click the Rooms tab.
- Click New Room:
- Room Name: Enter a room name. This is a way to identify the room in the Ditto portal.
- Add Receiver: Add a receiver to this room. This is how you make a room active. A receiver is simply the device in the room that Ditto connects to.
- Location (optional): Designate a location. Locations make it easy to organize rooms in the Ditto portal.
- Room Groups (optional): Add this room to a location. Locations are like categories that help you filter in the account portal.
- Click Create Room to create a room for your Ditto account.
- In the next window, you will be provided with the created room’s overview.
- Verify the details and click Save Room.
Step 4: Create digital signage
- On your Ditto account portal, select the option Signage and click New List.
- Name the list and choose a Signage List type.
- Assign it to your target Ditto rooms.
- Click Create.
- From the upcoming window, select your newly created list and then select the Signage Items tab.
- Choose New Item.
- Choose from one of the provided templates or upload custom content with the Media template.
- Once your signage item is created, click Save Signage.
- To add more signage items, simply open your signage list and click New Item.
- You can also edit, schedule, hide, or delete existing items by selecting the signage list and choosing the appropriate action.
Upon completion of the outlined steps, the designated digital signage content will begin displaying on Ditto-enabled tvOS devices.
Let us know if you get stuck anywhere. If you encounter any issues during the deployment process, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
