Escrow Recovery Password for Windows BitLocker

expand collapsive

We are back with another exciting update!

With the latest update, you can escrow the BitLocker recovery password to your Hexnode UEM portal.

Why This Matters:

  • Effortless Escrow: Securely store BitLocker recovery passwords, so they are readily available when required
  • Enhanced User Experience: Quickly resolve ‘forgot password’ queries and allow your users to regain access to their encrypted data
  • Minimized Disruption: Reduce operational downtime and enable your organization to maintain peak productivity

The escrowed recovery password will be stored in your Hexnode UEM portal, under Manage > Device Summary > Hardware Info.

And what’s more, with the Force BitLocker Encryption action, you can seamlessly encrypt your devices even without any user interaction. And of course, the action is set to automatically comply with the associated encryption policy on your device.

Happy testing,

Can we have detailed instructions on using this please?

I’m not seeing keys displayed for any BitLocker enabled machines, and if it’s a setting we have to enable via policy it’s not in the BitLocker section?

Hey @clyde, thank you for reaching out to Hexnode Connect.

In order to escrow the BitLocker recovery password to your UEM portal, you need to check the Escrow recovery password to Hexnode UEM field while configuring the policy.

And if you are forcing BitLocker via Actions, make sure to check the Mandate and escrow a recovery password field.

We understand that configuring BitLocker can be just a tad bit tricky, so we have prepared an assortment of documents to help you along the way.

And if you can’t find this option in your portal, it might be that your portal is yet to be updated. We’ll have our technical support team take a look at your portal and reach out to you at the earliest.

    Hope this helps!
