We should have a way to manage warranty information. In an ideal world, the platform would scan warranty information automatically (I know other MDM platforms have this functionality) so we can properly administer a lifecycle management policy.

If automatic scanning isn’t possible, it would be nice at least to have a calendar field in the Device Info so we could enter the information manually.

Hey mattrizzo

Welcome aboard to the Hexnode Connect.

We greatly appreciate your requests and suggestions with the Hexnode Community and looking forward to more. We assure you that your requisition has been communicated with the concerned team.

If it’s attainable, we’ll be delighted to include the warranty details scanned automatically along with other device details. We shall raise a request for the same irrespective of the device platform so that it helps you with the device lifecycle management.

For the time being, you can execute the Edit Device Attributes (Manage > Devices > Actions > Edit Device Attributes) action to include the warranty information as Device Notes or Device Description. It enables you to add any device-specific details to the Hexnode portal manually.

  1. Firstly, you may identify the warranty details of each device.
  2. Then, create a CSV file specifying the warranty details listed against the necessary field. Here is a sample CSV file that will help you.
  3. While executing the action, upload the CSV file you have created.

You can keep track of the warranty details displayed as Device Notes or Description on the Device Info page of the device.

At the same time, I am assuring you to notify the progress of your request.

I agree that it would be helpful to automatically query vendors for warranty status lookup. A couple of common PC vendors allow this via API and it helps with seeing how many devices are out of warranty (or will be out of warranty soon) for budgeting and replacement purposes.
Some standard, manual fields would be a start to begin getting the asset warranty into your system.
