How to group multiple patches for deployment?Solved

Hey Community, so, the question is how do i group multiple patches for devices. Now the thing is i can deploy the patches individually; however, I’ve noticed this way of updating leads to overhead due to the time lost in reboot cycles. What are some of the strategies that we could implement using Hexnode where the patches can be deployed in groups to reduce this reboot time.

@roosevelt , in Hexnode UEM you can use the Automate tab where you can deploy patches to macOS, and Windows devices based on various criteria. This feature brings in the opportunity to push groups of patches together into devices according to parameters such as the severity of the patches (e.g., critical, moderate, or low, etc.), update classification type (e.g., configuration data updates, critical updates, firmware), release date, and more. You can configure filters to ensure the patches are deployed only when specific criteria are met. This feature is designed to streamline the patching process and resolve issues such as your specific case of reducing the number of reboot cycles required.

Hey @kylian_parker , I wanted to push some critical updates for our Windows devices through this feature. And at the same time, I also want this to be pushed to only devices above a specific OS version. Can both these criteria be satisfied through the automation feature?

Absolutely, @raelynn ! This is totally achievable through the Automate tab. Let me run you through the basic steps,

  • Firstly, log in to your Hexnode portal.

  • Go to the Automate tab and click on New Automation. Here, you will have the option to choose the platform which is Windows in your case.

  • Provide a name and description (not mandatory), for the automation and click on Next.

  • In the next stage under Actions, you can define the criteria for automation. Here, you can add filters.

  • Under the Windows optionyou can set the filter parameter as Update Classification and select its value as ‘Critical Updates. Here, you can also specify any updates to ignore and configure automation rules.

For applying these updates to Windows devices of a certain OS version, under the section Target Filters you can configure filters by specifying the OS name/version of the devices on which you would want the updates to be applied.
