Hi @Margaret, could you be clearer on the description by sharing what OS your device is running and the model of the device?

Anyway, I hope your device is running Android 6.0 or above and also falls under the list of Android Enterprise Recommended devices. The device should be following the standard Android out of the box experience that allows you to enter the Gmail account during device setup. Then only you may enroll your device in the device owner mode, using the enrollment token method you have mentioned.

If you had any issue with this, it could have been caused by device non-compliance with Android Enterprise or you may try another method from How to enroll a device in Android Enterprise as Device Owner. The other methods are –

● Using QR code (for Android 7.0 and later)
● Using adb on a host system (for Android 5.0 and later)

@zach-goodman, it shows “Couldn’t find your Google Account”. The device is supported for using this method.

@Monty, this error appears when you have not removed the pre-configured Google account on your device before factory resetting the device. To continue with the enrollment, you must sign in with the said Google account, remove it from the device and then factory reset the device again. This issue should not be come up the next time.

@zach-goodman, that solved it, thank you! I also tried afw#setup and tried to scan the QR code but it says Invalid code. Is this a different thing?

The other method you mentioned is the DPC Identifier method for enrolling Corporate-Owned-Personally-Enabled (COPE) devices. This follows a different flow from the device owner mode in Hexnode, which is a Corporate-Owned-Business-Only device management model.

You must use only the DPC identifier for Hexnode – afw#hexnodemdm, if you’re planning to enroll in Hexnode UEM device owner mode. You may also use the QR code method to enroll your device; for that, follow the steps on How to enroll a device in Android Enterprise as Device Owner.
