Hide apps on macSolved

We have a few iPads and MacBooks at our retail stores for inventory management. We want to restrict access to certain apps and hide all stock apps on them…we tried blacklisting these apps, but they were not hidden on the macs,… is this possible from the portal?…
All our macs run macOS Big Sur. We have Intel and M1 Mac Airs and a few Intel MacBook Pros.

I guess you could whitelist the apps you want access to. That could hide all other unwanted apps.

Yes, we tried that too. Did not hide other apps on Mac.

Hi, @skylar!

Thank you for reaching out to us!

Unfortunately, you cannot hide apps by blacklisting them on macOS devices. All unapproved apps will still be visible on the device but will not be accessible to the user. Feel free to read on the ins and outs of blacklisting and whitelisting apps on macOS.

Hope this answer helps you.

We faced a similar situation with a few of our older ipads…it worked on the newer devices seamlessly…

Hi, @Annemie!

Thank you for choosing Hexnode UEM!

This seems to be a version mismatch, assuming your devices are supervised. Blacklisted apps are hidden on supervised iOS devices 9.3 and above. We recommend updating your iPads to the latest version. If your device is unsupervised, you will be able to see and use the blacklisted app, but the device will be marked as non-compliant within the portal.

Hope this answer suits your requirement
