Force screen turn offSolved

Hi there,

I’m having an issue with an app on my tablet that has a function to prevent the screen from turning off, even when I’m not using it. This is really annoying, and I’m worried it’s going to drain my battery.

Is there a way to force the screen to turn off after a while, even if the app is still running? I’m using a tablet with Android 13, specifically the Samsung SM-P610 model, if that helps.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hello @wilma,

While Hexnode does offer a restriction called ‘Screen Timeout’ that can automatically turn off the screen after a set interval, it seems that the app you’re using is overriding this setting, keeping the screen on indefinitely.

Instead, you can utilize the ‘Lock Device‘ remote action to turn off the screen. Here’s how:

  1. Log in to Hexnode.
  2. Go to the Manage tab.
  3. Select the device or devices that you want to lock.
  4. From the Actions dropdown menu, choose Lock Device.
  5. Optionally, you can also provide a custom message and a phone number to be displayed on the Android lock screens.
  6. Confirm the action by clicking Continue in the pop-up window.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
