Ensuring app persistence on Android devices via HexnodeSolved

Hello!

We’ve got a bunch of Android devices enrolled in Hexnode (using Android Enterprise), and we’re planning to roll out Microsoft Teams across all of them. Just wondering, if someone uninstalls the app, does Hexnode automatically reinstall it? Or would we need to step in manually? Would love to understand how this works.

Hey @yu-yan!

If you push Microsoft Teams using the required apps policy, Hexnode keeps an eye on it. If a user uninstalls the app, Hexnode will detect that during the next policy sync and automatically reinstall it. That way, Teams stays up and running on all your devices without any manual effort. This automatic app reinstallation behavior is consistent across all platforms supported by Hexnode.

On the other hand, if you install the app using the install application remote action, it’s a bit different. In that case, Hexnode won’t automatically reinstall the app if it’s removed. You’d have to go back into the portal and trigger the installation again manually.

Let me break down the logic behind this:

  1. Hexnode performs periodic syncs to monitor the status of managed apps on devices.
  2. If the required app is missing, the device is flagged as non-compliant.
  3. If the app was deployed via the required apps policy, Hexnode will automatically reinstall it.
  4. If the app was deployed using the remote action, the non-compliance will still be reported, but no automatic reinstall will take place, you’ll need to reinstall it manually via the portal.

Hope that clarifies things! Let me know if you need further clarification or assistance.
