We understand that it would be helpful for you to check the live cell and WIFI status along with the signal strength of the devices from the device page in the Hexnode portal. We shall have a feature request raised on your behalf and keep you in the loop with the updates regarding this.
In the meantime, you could make use of the last checked in time of the device to confirm the last time the device contacted the portal. This would be shown on the device page from Manage > Click on the device name. During troubleshooting, the last checked in time would help confirm whether the device is connected to an internet connection as this would be required for the device to connect to the portal.
